Commission with Mai Majdy
Introduction
Mai Majdy is pleased to accept fine art painting commissions by private and public art collectors, art museums, corporate organizations, hotels, investment funds and art syndicates.
Mai uses a traditional oil painting technique called “alla prima” which captures the sense of spontaneity of the oil painting process. Simply, it means that the brushwork and the process of painting are evident in the finished product. It looks like a painting because you can see the paint and brushstrokes. All paintings are made on stretched primed canvas, using time-honored materials and techniques.
Initial Discussion
The theme, color palette and size are agreed in accordance to client’s preferences with Mai Majdy and/or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters concept suggestion.
Broadly speaking, the sizes are Head and shoulders, Half-body, Three quarters body, and Full length.
All of the mentioned commission-elements are discussed initially and executed in accordance to Mai Majdy and/or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters recognizable style and interpretation.
If the commissioned portrait is to be painted from a photograph, Photos need to be at least well-lit and clear enough to see small facial features. If you aren’t sure, just send it, and the artist will let you know.

Timeframe
To create high quality fine art takes considerable time, just like everything of quality and value.
It depends on the size of the commissioned artwork as well as the details and number of subjects in the commissioned painting which will be discussed before the commencement of the fine art commission. It could be anywhere from 2 weeks up to 4 months.
Oils normally take at least 2 months to dry and fast drying oils a month before they can be varnished. The varnish protects the oil paint from the atmosphere and is necessary for the longevity of your portrait.

Price
- The price of commissions is established and agreed upon in the initial conversation with the client by scheduling a call or email with the artist. Once Mai has a full understanding of your portrait project, simple, upfront pricing and potential delivery dates will be given.
- The price is set in accordance to the desired size, the number of persons to be painted, complexity of objects and detail required in painting the commissioned artwork. For Multi figure Portraits in Oil Add 6000 AED for each extra person.
- 50% of the agreed purchase price (non-refundable down payment) is required to secure your place on Mai’s commissioned portrait schedule.
- The work on the commissioned painting commences after this initial payment is made.
- The remaining 50% is paid at completion and prior to handover of the commissioned artwork.
- The time a commissioned portrait painting takes, and the process used depends greatly on the complexity of the work, usually several months.
- Mai Majdy can help organize your Framing if preferred.
- An appropriate invoice is issued from Mai Majdy and/or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters as the commissioned artist with the confirmation of the full payment.

- One-person portrait.

- Simple clothing and plain backgrounds.

- More details in the painting background using impasto technique made by palette knife, to produce a heavy texture strokes. This is intended to create a more three-dimensional effect, which Mai famous for in her own oeuvre paintings for her public exhibitions and art shows.

Delivery
All commissioned paintings are WITHOUT FRAME and packed in mailing tubes.
There will be a white border around all paintings depending on canvas size and painting ratio.
You can request framing or stretched canvas service by contacting us at info@maimajdy.com.
The cost delivery is separate from the fine art commission price.
commissioned painting will be packaged, and sent to you by our shipping agent, usually within 3 to five working days within the vicinity of the United Arab Emirates. The delivery time varies for external orders, provided the delivery period does not exceed 15 days.

Refund Policy
You can request ONLY A CANCELLATION for commissioned artwork within 24 hours of purchase.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on commissioned artworks.

Licensing & Copyrights
Some of Mai Majdy painting’s images are publicly available on social media are available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial License.
Mai Majdy retains the copyright on all the artwork produced by her including any artwork resulting from a commission. This also includes the right to use images of the artwork in promotional material (including Limited Edition Prints, Open Edition, commission paintings and products) or on www.maimajdy.com.
You may not reproduce any piece of artwork or artwork print in any form without prior permission. You may, however, display commissioned artwork on social media (Facebook etc), but it must not be reproduced in any other form whatsoever. including Limited Edition Prints, Open Edition and products featuring the commissioned artwork may be obtained from Mai Majdy and/or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters.
Creative Commons License
With Creative Commons, you are free:
- To share: copy, distribute and transmit the painting’s images.
- To remix: Create derivative works from the painting’s images.

Commercial license
"Commercial use" in relation to the online or offline use of paintings images is defined very broadly. The determination of commercial or non-commercial use depends on the contextual use of the image. The determination is not based on the tax filing status of the entity using the image nor on whether or not a financial transaction takes place.
Commercial use of artist’s paintings images is only permitted if given permission by Mai Majdy or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters. All commercial uses will incur a license fee. Artist fees are based on the following variable criteria:
- Media Type - Web, Print, etc.
- Geographical distribution
- Duration of use - use once, 1 year, 2 years, etc.
- Significance of use - full page, half page, home page (online), etc.

Example uses requiring a copyright license:
- Marketing campaign for a commercial entity
- A fund-raising campaign for a non-profit organization
- A background image for a furniture sale site
- Individual printed business license for use in a private home

Unauthorized use of artworks made by from Mai Majdy and/or Maimajdy Calligraphers and Painters will be detected. Immediately. Failure to pay and comply with the orders will result in legal action being initiated.
